The G.L.D.M. Congratulate Ministry Of Family, Youth & Community Affairs

The Gibraltar Local Disability Movement would like to express its thanks to the minster of youth & community affairs in its response to the resent allegations of abuse at the Dr Giraldi home.

The movement sent a letter to the minister of Social Services Agency Mr. Netto with regard to the allegations of Dr Giraldi home on Monday December 3rd where it implored to the Minister to undertake the movement request that off an independent public inquiry and that a public statement or broadcast be made, so to alleviate the pain and hardship of many.

The movement will like to indicate although Both the Government and the Social Services Agency had declined to comment on this matter in order not to interfere with the due process of the Tribunal, Government and the Social Services Agency has a duty to investigate any allegations if brought to it, no withstanding any process of any tribunal.

The movement will also like to make note that some may not come out declaring any such offence that may have been committed by employees of the agency due to the tight of losing out on any of the services offered to them. And therefore the G.L.D.M. calls upon anyone who believes that any such offence has or may have been committed by employees of the Agency, that they have a duty to report any matter to the Police, and should do so.
