Hundreds Help ‘Clean Up The World’ But What About The Allegations Of Abuse The Gibraltar Local Disability Movement has today come out as on many occasions with reference to the Dr Giraldi Home on the allegations of abuse, in reaction to what the movement describes as deplorable, worthy of severe condemnation from all of us in Gibraltar. The disability movement reiterates that many parents are worried about the issue about the so called alleged abuses and adds that the allegations of abuse are hurting many.
The movement thinks it is insulting that the clean up the world is be being supported by hundreds with more concern to the world environment due to influences of human activities, than the activities that we all should be looking out for, the human conditions of those who are victims of an incompetent administrative powers that be.
The Movement adds in its harsh words, that enough is enough and if we should go by what Minister Jose Netto confirmed in Parliament, that a drunken manager of Dr Giraldi Home almost gave child a drug overdose. Well this Movement adds this has significance on this issue and this should have had legal proceedings.
Also the GLDM also comments on the Chief Minister Peter Caruana interspersions, that of the ordinary meaning of the English language of a punishment room. A punishment room dose not need technical construction but an area where a penalty is imposed on somebody for wrongdoing as in an instance of punishing.
THE GLDM MUST ADD, Any form of punishment is illegal under the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union - TITLE I - DIGNITY - Article 4 - Prohibition of torture and inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.

No one shall be subjected to torture or to inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
It is clear to see that we in Gibraltar have violated this law,
Social Services Agency investigated a complaint made by the mother of a child, in the care of Dr Giraldi Home, who had been made to stand facing the wall with heavy books in both hands because it was claimed that the child had misbehaved and that a senior member of staff had confirmed this was a suitable form of punishment.
This GLDM states is illegal under Article 4, as it’s is subjecting a person to inhuman and degrading treatment and punishment.
The Gibraltar Local Disability Movement also adds if a person is a legal guardian, legally they must be entrusted to manage somebody else's affairs, especially those of a minor or a disabled, The Social Services Agency if it had refused to provide details to the sister of a service user the statements given to the Police, in which it was alleged that a particular service user had been mentally and sexually abused. The SSA or the RGP must comply under the data protections act.
The Chief Minister should accept that parents and public are interested over this issue and that it will do no good to hamper, or to be seen not being as an open Government. Subject of a proper investigation to the abuses and allegations the parents and public will not heal.
