The Gibraltar Local Disability Movement Send Letter To Minister, Mr. James Joseph Netto With Regards To The Allegations Of Dr Giraldi Home The Gibraltar Local Disability Movement will today send a letter to minister of Social Services Agency Mr. Netto with regard to the allegations of Dr Giraldi Home.
In the letter the G.L.D.M. has stated due to the amount of inquiries both by phone and e-mail it has found that it must implore to the Minister to undertake its request that off an independent public inquiry to the allegations of Dr Giraldi Home and that a public statement be made.
The G.L.D.M. puts that the concerns of the families, and those that work at the home cannot be ignored, and that of protecting and ensuring the well being for all who lives at Dr Giraldi Home must be our main objective.
The G.L.D.M. makes note in its letter that under the social services agency act, 2002, under duties of the agency article (f) it must ensure that all complaints made against the Agency or any employee or contractor of the Agency are properly investigated without delay.
The G.L.D.M will also like to add the reasoning that of making the letter to the minister public is due to the circumstances on the amount of inquiries it has, and general state and condition of many, it furthermore hopes it will ease and free the worries of many that something is being done.

The Gibraltar Local Disability Movement will like to make note to the latest Allegations to the issue to the Dr Giraldi home.
Many NGOs and political parties, and the media have come out on the issue of Dr Giraldi Home,

The total amount of media as one can see is substantial.
We have found, due to this situation and the amount of inquiries both by phone and e-mail to the Gibraltar Local Disability Movement, that many are deeply worried and concerned.
The Gibraltar Local Disability Movement would like to request in the light of this event that a full independent public inquiry into the allegations towards the Dr Giraldi Home be undertaken.

The protection of children who may be at risk involves the working together of a number of different agencies in Gibraltar. The Social Services Agency has the responsibility of co-ordinating this work to ensure that children are safe from abuse.

The implementation of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) comes into question and the set up of Disability Rights Commission (DRC).
The (DDA) and (DRC) creation, the Gibraltar Local Disability Movement thinks that it is a must, as it will deliver the protection and services that disabled people need. And that work on this line should be considered by government.
