Allegations On Dr Giraldi Home By Duncan S. Jones Statement by The Gibraltar Local Disability Movement
The Gibraltar Local Disability Movement will like to pay note to the recent statement of the Duncan S. Jones BA (Hons.), MSc., Dip. In Law, CQSW.On his insertion in the press with regards to his Press Release issued. The G.L.D.M. will like to make it notated that any allegations describe by the Mr. Duncan S. Jones, should have warranted an independent public enquiry. Under the social services agency act, 2002, and under duties of the agency article (f) I.e., it must ensure that all complaints made against the Agency or any employee or contractor of the Agency are properly investigated without delay,
If by what Mr. Duncan S. Jones, has notated, that he was prevented from ensuring that full and proper investigations were conducted into serious allegations made against several members of staff by a number of residents. And that the instruction that the necessary disciplinary procedures were not to be followed was conveyed to him by the then Chief Executive Officer of the Social Services Agency. And that the so called instruction came from the 'highest level' outside of the Social Services Agency. This could indicate to many that supposedly orders came from number 6 and it, i.e. number 6 had a hand in this whole ordeal.
The movement will like to indicate, both to the Government and the Social Services Agency that any interference in preventing any investigations to any allegations, if brought to it, will be an act of Contempt of the social services agency act, 2002.
The G.L.D.M adds that laws protects the integrity of the legal process and that no executive privilege is in insistence in Gibraltar, and that government may be set on a collision course with the general public if it dose not or should not act legally if this where the situation. .
The G.L.D.M. adds, A former team leader from the Adult Services, Social Services Agency, and overall management with responsibility for the Social Work Service for Adults, the Probation Service and the Day and Residential Services for People with Disabilities, including the Dr. Giraldi Home, has told us in the press, that the press release issued by the Government of Gibraltar, Ministry of Family, Youth and Community Affairs, dated 12 December 2007 is untrue and the public have the right to know this.
If we add the recent statement of the Duncan S. Jones, and if we add the Press Release issued by the Government of Gibraltar, Ministry of Family, Youth and Community Affairs, dated 12 December 2007, where it is quoted, (given the extent of self-serving and misleading comments being made which are having a serious demoralising and frustrating effect on staff, service-users and parents as well as concern in the community) The G.L.D.M. places a question , now that so many pernicious statements have been made and has no affect to alleviate the concern of many. Will a full and independent public enquiry into Allegations on Dr Giraldi Home help?
