It will be recalled that the position attributed to the RGP on allegations concerning the Dr Giraldi Home, is that those which the Social Services Agency had reported to the police were fully and thoroughly investigated at the time, namely January 2005. The issue that remains unanswered, is what is being done about subsequent allegations in the possession of the Agency since July 2005 and in the files of the Attorney General’s Chambers since July 2006 as a result of the Joanna Hernandez unfair dismissal. This is what was recently raised with the RGP and that there is to date no indication whatsoever of anything having been done in relation to these later accusations.
The allegations in question where included in the bundle of documents that would have been made public if the unfair dismissal case had gone ahead in the Tribunal.
They cover such instances as a service user being left alone by a support worker, who went out, whilst on night duty, placing the user at serious risk.
A female friend of a male employee, herself not an employee of the Agency, being brought in to one of the flats.
An employee coming to a flat apparently drunk, displaying aggressive behaviour, and staying to sleep there. It was alleged that a service user was dragged out of her bed so that the employee could sleep in it. It was also said that prohibited drugs were got rid of by flushing them down the toilet.
Instances of money missing and not accounted for.
Instances of wrong medication being given to service users.
An instance of incorrect medication being administered to a service-user. Following the wrong medication the service-user fell, sustained injuries and required medical treatment.
Drugs intended for patients apparently missing and unaccounted for.
The reports cover much more which may have nothing to do with possible requirements for police investigation but show the irresponsible attitude of the Agency in not seeking to investigate and put right all these other allegations as well.
