The Government condemns Alvarez Following an interview on GBC in which GGR Chairman made comments which have been rejecetd and described as serious allegations against staff of the Social Servcies the Minister for Social Servcies Yvette del Agua has attacked the GGR Chairman by describing him as "irresponsible".
In reaction to the interview on GBC the Minister today stated, "The statements made last Friday by Felix Alvarez, the Chairman of the GGR during a live interview on Newswatch, amount to very serious and generalised allegations of sexual and physical abuse by staff against minors and vulnerable adults. If a parent or other next of kin makes any such allegation in a specific case, it would of course be fully and properly investigated by the Social Services Agency and other relevant authorities.
"The Government condemns Mr Alvarez for his irresponsible statements, by which he has collectively smeared the staff at Dr Giraldi without the opportunity or protection of any process of verification of the truth of the allegations."
